Moss Manages the Game

Jon Moss in actionThis month, Football League referee Jon Moss is our guest speaker. Jon, who is in his fifth year as a Natiuonal List referee, brings a wealth of experience to us and will no doubt provide a brilliant insight into this vital area of the game.

As referees, we must be aware of the how we, both individually and collectively as a team, can mange a match to ensure that control is maintained and the laws administered as required.No doubt every member and guest who comes along will take something away to help them developtheir game.

Programme for 2009-10 Season

The meetings programme for the 2009-10 season is now in place, and we're delighted with the line-up for you.

The season starts on 6 August with Tony Blair covering the the law amendments for the season and the then looking at some video clips from UEFA. During the season, we will also see visits from National List referee Jon Moss, FIFA & Premier League referee Martin Atkinson, Football League assistant referee and Lancashire FA RDO Dean Mohareb together with a series of in-house presentations from our President, for Football League referee, Eddie Lomas, and Chairman and Level 3 Referee Anthony Moore.

Committee for 2009-10 Season

At the AGM on 7 May, the committee for the 2009-10 season was voted into office, with Tony Blair being re-elected as Chairman. The other officers of the Association remain the same but there were a few changes to the faces of the other committee members.

Work commitments have seen Andy Lomas leave the committee together. Elected to join the committee for the first time is Danny Costello. As a result, the committee is looking slightly light on numbers and will be looking for members to be co-opted for the season.

Update: Jason Rostron has agreed to be co-opted for the 2009-10 season. In December, Tony Blair resigned from the Association and Anthony Moore became acting Chairman.

Barry Lamb takes the Neil Midgley Memorial Trophy

Barry Lamb receives his awardThe ever popular Barry Lamb has been awarded the Neil Midgley Memorial Trophy for Senior Referee of the Year.

Barry sufferred a massive disappointment at the end of last season when he was removed from Level 3 but has got his head down, worked hard and his performances this year have seen him promoted back to Level 3 for the 2009-10. Barry can be rightly proud of his attitutde and application in achieving this feat.

 

George Fawkes receives the James Colligan Memorial Trophy for 2009

George Fawkes receives his awardGeorge Fawkes has been awarded the James Colligan Memorial Trophy for 2009, in recognition of his unrelenting dedication to the association and the fantastic work he has put in with the association's shop.

Well done George!

 

Payam Kordbacheh awarded the Ron Harding Trophy

Payam receives his award from Harold Crook Following a very successful season in 2008/9, Payam Kordbacheh received the Ron Harding Trophy as Level 6 Referee of the Year from association life member Harold Crook.

Payam's performances this season have been of an incredibly high standard, seeing him invited to represent Manchester FA the Dallas Cup tournament in the USA and promoted to Level 5 for next season. Well done Payam.
