Ken Goldstrong announces retirement

At the February meeting, Secretary Ken Goldstrong announced his decision not to stand for re-election as Secretary of Eccles RA at the AGM in May. Having served the role for 18 years, Ken's contribution to the on-going success of Eccles RA has been immense and something of which he is tremendously and rightly proud.

Eccles RA are therefore seeking a new secretary for the 2010-11 season. If any member wishes to take on the role or would like to discuss it, please contact either Ken or another committee member.

Eccles RA presents a social night at Belle Vue Dogs - a fun night in the Manchester Suite. An intimate, smaller, private suite, the Manchester suite is an ideal venue for a great night at the dogs. We can view the racing form our own private balcony area of the suite to soak up the atmosphere or watch all the action from the suites super plasma screens.

Anthony Moore becomes Acting Chairman

Anthony Moore has stepped up from his position as Vice Chairman to become Acting Chairman of Eccles RA for the remainder of the season, following the resignation of Tony Blair from the Association.

"It's important that we move forward and build on the past successes of the Association, starting with the January meeting at which we are delighted to welcome Premier League referee Martin Atkinson," Anthony commented, "I look forward to seeing as many members and guests on the 7th January."

Committee for 2009-10 Season

At the AGM on 7 May, the committee for the 2009-10 season was voted into office, with Tony Blair being re-elected as Chairman. The other officers of the Association remain the same but there were a few changes to the faces of the other committee members.

Work commitments have seen Andy Lomas leave the committee together. Elected to join the committee for the first time is Danny Costello. As a result, the committee is looking slightly light on numbers and will be looking for members to be co-opted for the season.

Update: Jason Rostron has agreed to be co-opted for the 2009-10 season. In December, Tony Blair resigned from the Association and Anthony Moore became acting Chairman.

Committee for 2010-11 Season

At the AGM on 6 May, the committee for the 2009-10 season was voted into office. Anthony Moore was elected as Chairman and Dan Costello has become Secretary following the retirement of Ken Goldstrong.

Ken has stayed on as a committee member and Joe McGrath has joined the committee for the first time. The post of Vice Chairman is currently vacant.

End of Season Dinner 2009

Boysnope Park Golf Club Eccles RA are delighted to announce the details of their End of Season Dinner for 2009.

The dinner will be held on Friday 15 May at the Boysnope Park Golf Club, Liverpool Road, Irlam at 7.30pm. You, together with your family and friends are invited to join us at our final social event of the season.

Tickets are priced at £20 per person for a three-course meal followed by coffee.
